Itinerary
From New Delhi catch a morning flight to Jabalpur in central India. You will be met at the Jabalpur airport and transferred to Bandhavgarh. Five hours drive will take you through rural environs of central India. At Bandhavgarh you will be staying in a comfortable lodge on the edge of the reserve. Drain the day’s exhaustion with hot or cold beverage and retire early to begin tomorrow’s adventure in the park.
Please note: If your international flight timing does not allow to catch flight to Jabalpur, we can easily arrange a hotel for you to send a night or have some rest.
Wake up early and set out on a game drive on 4×4 in search of the world’s most elusive cat. World renowned Bandhavgarh is known for its high tiger density and thus offers the best chance to see tigers in the wild. Wildlife includes the spotted deer or chital, sambar deer, wild boar, barking deer, blue bull, Indian gazelle, Indian bison, langur monkey and rhesus macaque. Leopard, sloth bear and wild dogs can also be seen here along with Indian jackal and fox. The main focus will be searching for tigers and thinking everything else that comes along the way.
Bandhavgarh has a rich history. The remnants of the past can be sill seen here. The place has been named after the fort which is in the center of the park on a hill. Sadly, it is not open to tourist but few places such as Sheshaiya can be visited where a gigantic one-piece reclining Vishnu statue can be seen. Bandhavgarh hill offers many crevices for endangered vultures to nest. Keep a look out for Indian vulture, white-rumped vulture and migratory but rarely seen cinereous vulture.

After morning game safari drive south to the moist deciduous forest of Kanha tiger reserve. After 5 hour drive will reach Kanha. Here a luxurious tented accommodation will be reserved for you. Located in the buffer area on the quitter sider of the reserve.
Kanha has been accredited with one of the best managed tiger reserve in the country. It has been successful in preserving biodiversity specially bringing swamp deer from brink of extinction after extensive shooting. The hard ground race of barasingha or twelve tinted, also known as swamp deer is endemic to Kanha. Kanha is also one of the reserve that was included in the first phase of project tiger as an important tiger habitat. The sal forest, which stays green round the year, and the meadows which supports healthy population of herbivores are two iconic symbols of Kanha. The tiger population is thriving in these jungles making it a perfect destination of tiger lovers.
Commonly seen animals include tiger, leopard, gaur or Indian bison, jackal, swamp deer, spotted deer, sambar, barking deer, wild dogs. Bird life is also abundant here. Contact us for complete list of animals and birds recorded in Kanha.
Morning and evening game drives in the reserve in search of tiger. Kanha has also been home to many forest dwelling tribes. Villages or tola of Baiga tribes are dotted all around the reserve. You can take a break from a daily drives and visit Baiga village and meet the locals that will give you an insight how people once co-existed in harmony with nature.
Today drive west to dry deciduous forest of Maharastra’s Vidharbha region. After morning drive in Kanha you can leave for Tadoba or start early to reach in time for evening game drive in Tadoba. Located six hours drive from Kanha, Tadoba is a very different and dry forest in comparison to Kanha. Within the span of such distance you will see a complete change in the forest and tiger habitat which suggest tigers are resilient cats that can survive in wide range of habitat.
Your accommodation here is near to the park gate allowing quick access into the park. Rooms are comfortable with small private lawn and offers good view of the surrounding tree plantations.
Tadoba has recently started featuring in international media and blogs of world class wildlife photographers because of prosperous breeding of tigers that made Tadoba surface on international level. This has been possible due to forest department’s effort on checking habitat loss to illegal wood felling and increasing prey base by controlling poaching. This dry forest is home to over 50 tigers and 6-7 families with cubs. The dry forest enables deeper vision penetration which make locating animals easier.
Together with tigers; leopards, wild dogs, and sloth bears are regularly sighted here. Another animal often seen here is four-horned antelope. It is one of its kind in the world with 2 sets of horns. Perennial Tadoba lake in the center of the reserve attracts not only animals to quench their thirst but also draw many resident and migratory birds. One can see, grey-headed fish eagle, 4 species of kingfishers, ducks and waders from Europe and central Asia along with many resident birds such as roller, crested hawk and serpent eagles, plenty of cormorants and black-headed ibis to name a few.
